Distribution

Breeds locally on lakes and big rivers in steppe and forest-steppe of southern Siberia and Transbaikal. Settlemants on steppe lakes are affected with climatic variability, for example they can disappear in dry periods on Torey Lakes in Transbaikal and then recover in humid peripds. In late XXth Century, fast colonisation northwards began. On Lake Baikal, was numerous to XXtn Century, then got extinct in 1970s, and from 2006s began to breed again, and number increases much.
